Welcome - About Live and Loud!

Live and Loud! began as a fortnightly internet radio show in 2012 taking old unreleased live concert recordings I could find and working to repair and improve them - fixing tape hiss, noise, tape drop out, clicks, speed variations, defects - before improving the sound quality by EQing the sound to bring out the instruments as clearly as possible. These are now made directly available to download for free to reach as many fans of the music as possible.

Depending on the quality of the original recording, these can often be made to sound almost like commercial recordings - but of course I can't guarantee that for every show. What I can guarantee is it will sound far better than the original files available which have been floating around the internet and on bootleg recordings for many years.

Almost all are either "soundboard" recordings (taken directly from the mixing desk used at the gig on the night) or old FM radio recordings. A few gigs, if they are of special historical importance, make an appearance even if they were recorded from the audience - these can also be made to sound better than ever.

Do your ears a favour and listen on headphones or good speakers to get most benefit - laptop speakers will always sound pretty poor by comparison.

All shows still available are listed, including a link to download the remastered show for free. If you want to support the site with a small donation, you can receive the shows as either separate MP3s or FLACs (your choice) - head over to the Rewards for Donations page and see how you can get a lot for very little!

If you want to email me, an email link is in my profile in a link in the side panel.

And finally... These are great fun to listen to but DO NOT replace original releases - support these artists and buy their music.
There is nothing you can go and buy in a regular record store here. If a gig is made available as a regular release, then it will be removed (as a couple have been already).

Upload Plan - Missing Shows...!

Ok, so...the plan is to offer download links to all the Live and Loud! shows broadcast so far. At the time of writing, Shows 46-57 are up. This is because they were only available on mixcloud for streaming before and never for download. So they're done and out of the way!

Shows 1 through 45 were all downloadable at 1 time. 29-45 were available as 320 kbps mp3s. All those before were only available as they were broadcast - as 128kbps mp3s. Well, I don't know about you but I like the better sound quality... All gigs when remastered by me (almost all, anyway) were saved at 320 - but without intros etc. Unfortunately 1 or 2 were at a lower rate to begin with, as that's the source file I was working from was at. In 1 particular case, the remaster and show has completely disappeared!

So this is the plan:
Shows 29 and 31-45 will be up next as they're all ready to go in the better quality mp3s.

Shows 1-28 will be uploaded with a brief new intro from me in 320 mp3s (except 2) for the first time, in chronological order.

Show 30 (Jean Michel Jarre in Egypt) will have to be remastered - that was the one lost.

Bit of a pain but I want to get them up as soon as possible and this seems the best way of doing it.

The Missing Shows
There are a few gaps:
Show 4 - Duran Duran 1982 - I remastered this a second time as I wasn't happy with the first. This then became Show 12.
Show 14 - Erasure - I got grief from someone who claimed to be working for Vince Clarke's management (at 1 point he faked an email claiming he WAS VC's manager...). After he'd got a copy of the show, of course. Telling me to take it down or face the consequences - so it got taken down. If you really want it, plenty of fans on Erasure forums and FB pages managed to get it before it was taken down, so ask there.
Show 20 - IAMX. This was never available for download as the files were originally made available by IAMX to fans. Seemed safer to never offer this one.

Anyway - 31-45 should be up over the next few days. Feedback has been good so far - glad people are enjoying them!
